Guest Suites

We have three luxury suites, each comprising generous double bedroom, equally generous private sitting room, and private w.c. with bath or shower.

All of the rooms have high ceilings and large windows, and many have antique features such as frescoes or old terracotta floors.

Poets and Pompeii have garden views over the lovely walled garden. La Dolce Vita has a private balcony ideal for sipping a glass of Prosecco and watching the world go by, while the view is a melange of typical Italian houses and roofs.

Guest suites are offered on a room-only basis (i.e. meals are not included, but there are great cafes and restaurants all around).

All rooms are non-smoking.

All rooms have free wifi internet

The Poets' Suite

This generous suite of 50 square metres (538 square feet) was the original master suite of the Villa. These were the rooms where poets Robert & Elizabeth Barret-Browning, and their son Pennini, slept when they used the villa as their summer residence in the 1850s, and where world-famous composer Giacomo Puccini slept during visits to this villa, then owned by his lifelong friend.

The master bedroom and the adjoining private sitting room are both large, airy rooms with double aspect windows and high ceilings. The living room exhibits antique geometric frescoes on all walls, while the bedroom has tantalizing glimpses of the original designs.

The Bedroom

The bedroom has a comfortable vintage-style double bed, large vintage closet, and a very old terracotta-tiled floor which has a warm glow and an authentic patina of history.

One window gets the morning sun and looks over our courtyard and an interesting ensemble of rooftops, while the other looks onto refreshing foliage. The bedroom has doors leading to the private sitting room and to the en-suite shower room.

The Sitting Room

The sitting room boasts a view of the garden and a glimpse of the public park and the hill rising beyond.

A comfortable sofa, table, and vintage armchairs make this a relaxing place to be while you contemplate your next move.

The walls display original geometric frescoes and the floor, like that of the bedroom, is of extremely old terracotta although of a different pattern.

The En-Suite

The ensuite shower room has a crisp, fresh aspect and is very light due to having a large window.

It is fitted with an antique-styled high flush wc, bidet, and basin and has a spacious shower with a glass crystal partition.

The shower is a deluxe thermostatically controlled column with large circular shower head and an additional flexible hand-held shower head.

The Pompeii Suite

This suite is named after the antique frescoes on the walls which have acquired a slightly faded and romantic appearance over the centuries, reminiscent of those uncovered at the city of Pompeii.

The Bedroom

A double aspect room with view of the garden at one side and across the piazza to the entrance of the poets' walk on the other side.

The bedroom has doors leading to the private sitting room.

The Sitting Room

The sitting room looks over the piazza (Piazza Tolomei) at the front of the house, and has an antique marble fireplace.

A door from the sitting room opens onto the corridor which leads to the private bathroom.

The shower room, which is private and reserved for the guests of this suite, is outside of the suite and accessed by a corridor.

It is fitted with all new wc, bidet, and basin and has a walk-in shower with a glass crystal partition.

La Dolce Vita Suite

This suite features a generous bedroom with original frescoed ceiling, sitting room with balcony, and generous en-suite bathroom with a comfortable dressing area.

The Bedroom

A comfortable, well-proportioned room looking over the piazza. It has the original frescoed ceiling and a floor of handmade Liberty-style tiles made by Tessieri & Co in Lucca in approximately 1904, probably about the time when the front facade of the house received its Liberty decorations.

The bedroom has doors leading to the private sitting room and the en-suite bathroom and changing area.

The Sitting Room

The sitting room has a balcony which looks over the piazza (Piazza Tolomei) at the front of the house, where you can sit and drink a coffee or watch the world go by.

It has the same Liberty-style floor as the bedroom, a high ceiling and a bright feeling due to the large balcony windows.

The En-Suite

The ensuite bathroom has an antique frescoed ceiling featuring a bathing motif, a floor of vintage handmade tiles, a large window overlooking the piazza, and a comfortable changing/dressing area.

It is fitted with all new w.c., bidet, basin and a luxuriously large bathtub with shower.
